200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training
Frequently Asked Questions
How early should I apply?
You should send in your application as soon as possible to be accepted into the program.
Class space is limited. The first people that are approved will be accepted.
Are there any prerequisites?
It is suggested but not required to have been practicing yoga regularly and taking classes with a Certified Yoga Teacher for at least one year before beginning this training. If you are a fitness instructor, it would be beneficial to have completed additional training as an instructor for classes such as aerobics, NIA, etc.
What if I want to take the training but don’t want to be a teacher?
You can still take the training. Some people take the training to deepen their own understanding and personal practice. There is no requirement to teach after completion but you will be qualified to teach and to be a Registered Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance®. If in the future you wish to teach yoga as a professional, you will have the credentials to do so. All graduates will be recognized as Certified Infinite Light Yoga Teachers at the 200-hour level. Your decision to become a Registered Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance® is up to you.
Do I have to register with Yoga Alliance® (YA)?
No, but by registering you can proudly call yourself a 200-hour RYT (registered yoga teacher) recognized by Yoga Alliance®. There are an estimated 70,000 yoga teachers in America but only an estimated 17,000 trained yoga teachers. Yoga Alliance® is an organization that was established by leading yoga professionals and training centers for just that reason; yoga teaching needed to have nationally accepted standards and a level of professionalism. Yoga Alliance® leads the yoga community, sets standards, fosters integrity, provides resources, and upholds the teachings of yoga.
What if I don’t register with Yoga Alliance®?
Your Infinite Light Yoga certification does not require you to be part of the Yoga Alliance® network. You will be a Professional Yoga Teacher recognized worldwide. The Infinite Light Yoga School is a registered Yoga School through Yoga Alliance® and as a result, allows you to become a Registered Yoga Teacher through that agency. You can register any time in the future if you decide to (as long as you keep your continuing education credits up to date and documented).
